ROLE Photographer
CONTRIBUTION A family friend was renovating a century home in Nova Scotia and called me over to take a look at something he had found. While tearing down some walls, he came across a pile of old shoes. We later found out that it was related to a superstition about illness. I took a series of photos using black and white Ilford film on a Nikkormat camera. To this day, it is one of my favorite photographs.
ROLE Photographer
CONTRIBUTION A friend and his wife were strong supporters of adopting retired racing greyhounds so they asked me to create a series of black and white photos of their two dogs. Animals don't sit still for long, so it took a few rolls to get the right shot. With the right depth of field and focus, I was able to capture the gentle manner and now relaxed environment of the greyhound. The photograph caught the attention of the American Greyhound Council and they will be using it in material for events they sponsor.
ROLE Photographer, Set Painting
CONTRIBUTION Traveling through Death Valley was a visual journey I have never experienced in North America. I had never come across such a lack of life so, naturally, I pulled out my camera and documented it.
ROLE Photographer
CONTRIBUTION Fanfare Theatre was a successful performing arts company that presented a production of Mr. Scrooge every holiday season in Oakville, Ontario. The show recruited national talent and also helped launch the careers of many young performers. I volunteered my time backstage for a few seasons, helping with props, set painting, poster illustration, and photography. Every season was a success with consistently sold out shows.
